I can see it having potential uses. I think it would be a good _optional_
feature for OV servers.

If registration is free, then it won't be hard to create lots of new
"secure" identities. My guess is you will have to pay a small fee for
access. That would also explain why there will be no personal servers.

We've talked about this in the past. OV is designed so that if you want
to "hide", you can. If someone wanted to write some sort of plugin that
gave you buddy-list type features, they could. It might be better to base
it off of an existing IM standard, like OpenICU or whatever that new IM
standard is called... either way, it should be entirely client-based.
Putting it into an OV server doesn't make much sense, or you wouldn't be
able to find people across servers. The client plugin can just tell a
central IM server of some sort what OV server it is located at.

They have discussion boards, we have mailing lists. :)
If someone was ambitious they could write a discussion board server
object. With the user notes feature, the client probably already has
everything necessary to support something like that.
